So I'm sitting here at work waiting for our final build so I can record my 5-star run for Overdrive - Chaser. When you unlock that in the game...it'll be me driving in the car. I wanted to do this level because it's the one I used most to test the threading implementation I put in. When you play the game, you'll understand what "Brass Knuckles" means a little more.

Pick it up on launch day!!! Also, look for our game trailer in movie theaters beginning in August for The Bourne Ultimatum (8/3), Rush Hour 3 (8/10), and The Simpsons Movie (7/27). I think we're on for the 2nd week or so for the Simpsons, not the premiere. When I see our game trailer in the theater, people around me are gonna think I'm a freak for Whoopin and a Hollerin! :)
We have had a busy month. The kids and I went to Arkansas for two weeks. We celebrated Jax's 2nd birthday on Memorial Day since we were there with all of the family. It was a Blue's Clue's Party! I made the mistake of giving him his handy dandy notebook right before he was to open his presents. Sooo, he didn't want to open anything, he was busy drawing clue's in his book.
I'll put some pictures up as soon as I get some from Aunt Laura or Nana. Also, we went to a family reunion at Giant City State Park in Illinois. It was a nice place to visit. Saw some family that I haven't seen in several years. Anyway, it was a good trip. Glad to be home though.
Friday was Jax's actual birthday, so we got up and got around and went out for an early lunch. Shawn went in later to work since he had to work late the night before. (Which is really getting old now.) We had lunch at Olive Garden. Before we left, Jax opened his presents, blew his candles out on his cake that Rachel made him. A Blue's Clue's paw print.
Saturday wasn't so fun. Both kids were throwing up all day and running fever. They both wanted to be held all day, so we sat in the recliner and watch tv most of the day. Of course, Shawn was at work. Needless to say, I was worn out by the time he got home. I still can't get the smell out puke out of my head. I was queasy all day Sunday just thinking about it.
All's well now though. Rachel's rash is gone, so we are going out and about tomorrow. It's been raining/storming for the past few days so we haven't been able to get outside and run around. My final eye surgery is scheduled for the 28th, so keep your fingers crossed this does the job. i'm sooo ready for this to be over with. PRK, if you've had it done, write me or call me and tell me about it. They doctor said it's more painful than Lasik.
Should go for now, it's taken me 4 hours to write this. I keep getting interrupted. Hope you all are well. Love ya. Come see us!!
We have an auto-quote dispatcher when anyone kicks off a build on our server. A recent one struck me as particularly poignant for debugging code.
"Only those who have the patience to do simple things perfectly will acquire the skill to do difficult things easily." - Johann Christoph Von Schiller
When you have to resort too much to trial-and-error debugging, you have a tendency to start relying on that approach. If on the other hand, you try to clearly understand the root of the problem, future and potentially more difficult problems may be much simpler because you already took the time to understand the system.
This month, THQ is previewing our 4th movie in the game, "Whoopin' and a Hollerin' II". It's a sequal to an original Stuntman Dukes of Hazard parody. The director comments as you're proceeding through the stunt levels are especially colorful. IGN has a good writeup from a play test with a two of our levels from the movie.
It seems like all the comments and reactions from the first game are complaints about the load times on restart. Believe me, they're fixed. There is no load time with a restart.
Here are a few screenshots from the game. These are not cut-scenes, these are all gameplay graphics.
Man, there is a bug in how the comments are displayed in IE. Works fine in Firefox though... Crap!
Update (7/1/07): Finally fixed... It was an issue with missing an ending '>' in a div that Firefox was fixing up for me. Weird how the HTML validator didn't catch it. I'm downloading Safari now to make sure the website looks ok there too.
I thought I was pretty good with a highscore of ~800K until I find out one of my high school buddies, Bill, has a 6M highscore. Unbelievable Bill! Darin and I had a GW challenge in the past, but he was never quite able to catch up to my score. I don't think there's anyway I could break 6M. My hat's off to you.
I finally got tired of listening to 80s radio stations all day and am now in constant need of full albums that I can listen over and over to. Here are a few that have been getting a ton of playtime with me. Anyone else have some suggestions before I go nuts?
- 30 Seconds To Mars - 30 Seconds To Mars
- My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade
